Afikpo masks are renowned worldwide. In fact, “Afikpo mask” is a distinctive form of art displayed in art galleries and popular with art collectors worldwide.

The popularity of Afikpo masks is due to the incredible richness of Afikpo culture and the efforts of scholars like anthropologist Stephen Ottenberg of the University of Seattle whose research and writings helped bring international exposure to Afikpo culture.
